Despite the many sensationalized meteor strike movies, the chances of Earth being hit by a devastating meteor strike are pretty low. But just in case you are particularly fearful of your house or car being damaged by a flying space rock, you can go right ahead and buy some meteor-impact insurance.
Which is probably the least likely thing that will never happen to anyone.
There are a few reasons why you should probably just save your money and forego asteroid insurance. First, the chances of your home or car being hit by a rock from the sky is astronomically low. Moreover, if the asteroid landed on your property, we guess you could say it is technically yours, and if it happens to be a rock from mars or the moon, you can sell it for about $1,000 per gram
Not only that, but if the Earth was hit by a decently large impact, we are pretty sure the last thing on your mind would be the insurance payout. At that point, you would most likely be concerned about the sky being black and a kilometer-high wall of fire coming for you.
